Mood Swings During Menstruation
The 3 out of 4 women deal with the mood swings who are having premenstrual syndrome. This becomes critical for those women having severe symptoms of uncontrolled anger, irritability, mood swings and depression. Duration can be till the menses or may last for a few weeks or may stay permanently.
Impact In Daily Life
It is crucial to understand what is the problem and why it exists. Here I want to illuminate why mood swings happen and how we can get rid of them by understanding the process and its impact on life.
So here are my own experiences dealing with severe mood swings like anger with no reason and irritability. They both just embroiled me in my daily life and I was feeling just helpless. Slowly I came to know that these are the premenstrual symptoms after my research on it and it seems my own problems are mentioned in that research. I brought it on in my life and tried to find the similarities. Guess what I found in research that every10% women with menstruation are dealing with this problem.
The impact on my life was dreadful because I was unaware even though I’m a medical student but in reality we never imagine such problems in our life and that’s what is happening with me, so I was a little surprised that it is happening with me. The severity of symptoms was not at the peak but I could have a sense of becoming severe for me especially in my life including my family and I could see that.
So one day I just decided to resolve half of my problems. I started discussing with my husband about my mood swings during my periods. It just gave me 20% of relaxation as we always says sharing your problems releases half of our stress.
But the main problems that got unresolved were uncontrolled anger and irritability from little-little things. I get frustrated everyday during my periods and I thought meditating was quite helpful but till now I could not find the solution.
When I Found The Reason
How can I forget that finding reason can be a perfect solution? Experts says that it is very common to face mood swings during menstruation but the problems arises when they are left untreated, repeatedly way of these are the things to discuss. According to experts it happens due to:
Hormonal changes take place in our body during ovulation when the hormone level of estrogen and progesterone reduces and leads to the reduction in the serotonin, a neurotransmitter responsible for mood, hunger and sleep regulation.
Family history of premenstrual syndrome could be a risk factor for mood swings.
The changes throughout the menstrual cycle leads to the symptoms like:-
Uncontrolled anger
Irritation
Panic attack
Anxiety and depression
Overthinking
Headache
Insomnia
Lethargy
Difficulty in concentration
Go With Solution
Do not leave this untreated, first and foremost consult your gynecologist she should always be your first contact to go and to treat. After toleration when you come to know about the final solution before taking any other treatment by self go with your gynecologist and follow all the guidelines for your prescription.
The Next Way To Overcome
For me the suggestions helped me a lot either motivational or inspirational, to lower down my anger by avoiding trigger factors.I understood the process of my cycle, tried to avoid my stimulation towards irritation and mood swings by taking healthy diet in periods, taking enough sleep and rest, use to reading good research for my health benefits.
I won’t lie that I went to my gynecologist because I didn’t feel that way and I was always afraid to take medicine so I worked on myself and on my behavior during my menstrual periods and applied meditations in many way to relax my mind one of my favorite one is pursed lip breathing exercises always helps me for enough air and to release stress.
Nature always helps us with our problems. We just need to listen carefully. Trust me without medication we can deal with our half of problems in a very gentle way this is what I believe.
I hope this found you helpful.
